The problem is that lowering a load of any magnitude can get sketchy if you don’t have a feel for that specific timing. Start with an empty bar and practice meeting the bar when it’s on it’s way down with the idea being that you “tip toe” up to meet the bar as it’s passing the top of your head and ride it back down to absorb the weight with your legs.
